Just about five minutes ago my iPod Touch’s (Second Generation Model MB528LL) screen stopped responding to my finger. The screen itself still worked as did the the physical buttons. The dang thing just wouldn’t respond to my touches. So, assuming it’s not some sort of hardware malfunction, you need to restart the device. There are two ways to do this. For a force restart you can hold the lock button and home button at the same time until you see the device restart. The second way may be a little safer but more complex. Yes, SSH. You need to:

1. Find or guess the IP Address or Hostname of your iPod. Sometimes your router’s web interface will tell you.
2. On Windows, download PuTTY. On Linux or a Mac open up the terminal.
3. In PuTTY, type in the hostname or IP you found. Then hit open. On Linux/Mac type “ssh root@(hostname/ip)”.
4. When you’re asked for a username in PuTTY put in root. When you’re asked for a password, put in the one that you changed it to. If you didn’t change your password try “alpine”.
5. Now you should be logged in to the device as root. To restart the device type “reboot” then hit the enter key.
6. Your connection will be closed and your iPod or iPhone will restart. Hopefully, when it boots back up it’ll now be fully functional.

If this doesn’t restore touch functionality to your iPod then it very will could be some sort of hardware defect. I’d give Apple Tech Support a call and pray it’s under warranty.

When I get some more time I’ll probably write up on how to get an IRC server running on your localhost. Nice for testing bots without lag or annoying other people. You could even set it up as a real irc server but I won’t be covering how to secure it up. At least, then.

The new template uses fonts that were designed with readability in mind. According to a blogthat was active during Word 2007 development, “the new fonts used in Word are based on the ClearType technology that provides a crisper, more easily read display of the fonts on most modern monitors.” Calibri is the new default font for body text, and “to complement the look of Calibri, Cambria was selected for use in headings.”

Unfortunately these new fonts are not accepted by some teachers. When writing an essay, thesis, or any formal document, and you are unsure which fonts are allowed, use Times New Roman. You might wanna’ call it the fail-safe of fonts.

I’ve finally got the chance to get this blog up and running the latest release of WordPress. I’ve decided to give you a quick overview of some of the key features and changes. I’ve also taken the liberty of taking some screenshots for you. Just click on the thumbnails that appear next to each feature for a closer look.

The brand new Admin CP is gives me the information I need. The first few sentences of this post I used the new QuickPress feature. It was easy to use. I could add tags and also save a draft or publish it right away. I decided to save a draft. Once it was saved, it gave me two options. To view a preview of the post, or to edit it. So I clicked edit. I was amazed at the new style of the post editor. Although they’re weren’t two many new features, the information was organized in a way that let me access the information I needed in a click or less. No scrolling necessary.

Although I woudn’t consider this to be a feature, it is defainatly an improvment from Version 2.6 What is it? It’s, as you may have already guessed, the “At a Glance” box. It tells me the quantity of posts, pages, categories, tags, comments, approved comments, pending comments, and comments that are in the spam queue. Much easier to read then the what was in previous releases.

Next, the sidebar. Couldn’t leave it out, could I? With some brand new custom made icons. The best way to show you how the sidebar works is to simply give you a video! It has two different modes. A “condensed” mode where it minimizes the use of text, and the default mode where it use text along with icons.

The last thing I’ll be showing to you is the “Screen Options” button which can be found near the top of the some pages, below the “Howdy, (UserName) | Log Out”. If you click it, you’ll be able to control what you see on some pages.

That just about raps up this quick overview.
