You might have noticed a sudden decrease in my Forum and IRC activity. I’ve taken that time to use for studying. I want to end this final quarter with some good grades I can be proud of. The kind of grades you’d expect of me. Let me tell ya, third quarter was anything but something to be proud of.

You’re probably wondering, “What’s gonna change?” First, you won’t see me on IRC much at all. Except for short random bursts when I have the time. As far as the Forums go I’ll try to make it on once a day. This blog? I’ll try to keep it updated but don’t expect any information rich long posts. After all, they’ll probably written on my iPod Touch. But hey, ya never know. Support from me will be on an as-is basis but Brad, Amber, Craig, and our other staff will be there to help.

The Vlexo server almost went down. Permanently. Luckily, everything went O.K. and the server continued its service to us.

Now, about Wildflower. It’s a CMS (Content Management System) using the CakePHP Framework. It’s great for smaller, simple sites. Some PHP, OOP, and CakePHP experience is required though.

Next, my current Windows XP powered home printer server, messed itself up again. I decided to try Ubuntu as a replacement. After installation, one command did the trick to give File/Printer sharing functionality. “sudo apt-get install samba” After that it worked. Perfectly. I still have yet to see if it’ll continue to work correctly as the days pass. However, Linux has a pretty good reputation for that.

I’ve also just been fooling around with Linux Distros. on my VM. Such as Ubuntu Christian Edition and DreamLinux.

Shall I tell you about my new found interest in Microsoft Visual C# .NET? Why not? I’ve developed quite a few little applications from a book on this. It’s been really helpful. And guess what? My first app didn’t say “Hello, World!”

Finally, I’ve started to delve into developing web applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. And maybe try to do something with the Play Station Portable, too.

The main point of the post is to talk about the new IRC Bot that I’ve been developing lately. Essentially, it gets data from the forums and presents them to the channel. It’ll work for forum topics, issues, and users.

Nifty, eh? I thought you’d think so. I have the forum topic stuff done about 75% and the issue thingy… 10% Yeah, I’ve been having some troubles with that. However, special thanks goes to cURL and the PHP explode() function. Without them, I woudn’t have been able to do this. I probably used explode way too much, though. Hey, it works.
